Privacy Policy

Timely is built so your calendar never has to leave your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Last updated: 14 July 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Timely (“Timely”, “we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Timelydesktop application and this website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

The short version

Timely generates your availability on your own device. To do that it reads only free/busy information from your calendar and talks directly to your calendar provider (Microsoft or Google). Your calendar contents are never sent to, stored on, or processed by our servers — because we don't operate a server that sees them.

Information we collect

Calendar data (stays on your device)

When you connect a calendar, Timely uses OAuth to access it. For availability, the app reads free/busy times only — never the titles, attendees, or contents of your meetings. The calendar quick-view reads event details only to draw the on-screen grid, and does so locally. All of this happens on your device; none of it is transmitted to us.

OAuth access tokens and your license key are stored encrypted in your operating system's keychain — never in plain text and never on our servers.

Account & billing information

Payments and subscriptions are handled by Polar, our payments provider and merchant of record. When you subscribe, Polar collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information and processes your payment. We do not receive or store your full card details. Polar shares limited order information with us (such as your email and subscription status) so we can provide and support the Service. See Polar's own privacy policy for how they handle your data.

Support communications

If you email us at support@trytimely.co, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and retain them to respond and keep a record of support history.

Website & technical data

When you visit this website, our hosting provider may process standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages requested, in server logs used to operate and secure the site. We keep analytics minimal and do not sell any personal data.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain and improve the Service.
  • To process your subscription, trial and payments (via Polar).
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To send essential service messages (for example, billing or security notices).
  • To detect, prevent and address abuse, fraud or technical issues.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

Calendar providers & API compliance

Timely connects to Microsoft 365 / Outlook and Google Calendar using their official APIs. Timely's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We access only the scopes needed to compute availability and render the quick-view, and we do not use this data for advertising or transfer it to third parties.

Sharing & third parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Polar — to process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Your calendar providers (Microsoft, Google) — accessed directly from your device to read availability.
  • Infrastructure providers — such as our website host and email provider, acting on our behalf.
  • Authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights.

Data retention

Calendar data and tokens live on your device and are removed when you disconnect an account or uninstall the app. Billing records are retained by Polar and by us as required for accounting and legal purposes. Support emails are retained for as long as needed to assist you.

Security

We design the Service to minimise the data that exists in the first place. Sensitive credentials are stored encrypted in your OS keychain, connections use encryption in transit, and payment data is handled by our PCI-compliant payments provider.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@trytimely.co. For billing data held by Polar, you can also use the customer portal or contact Polar directly.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
